Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2017 have roots and dollars firmly planted in Canada.
The biggest shopping event of the year is only days away, but Canadian shoppers and retailers tuned in weeks ago.
More than one-third of retailers started planning at least one month earlier than in 2016. Black Friday ads went up the first week of November promoting more Canadian deals and discounts than ever before. And it’s working.
Canadians are changing their holiday shopping patterns:
- 3 in 4 surveyed shoppers plan to keep their dollars north of the border whether online or in-store.
- Online purchases made by mobile device almost matched purchases made by desktop in 2016.
- Canadians will be up at early hours on Black Friday but it won’t be to stand in line. Google Canada reported a spike in shopping-related searches between 12:00 am and 2:00 am.
Forget Boxing Day, see why Black Friday is the biggest shopping day by sales volume in Canada.
